A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):
Tuesday
West Coast League Baseball, Portland at Bend, 6:35 p.m.: Home for just six dates in the past 30 days, the Elks look to make a late-season run when they return to town to face the Pickles in the opener of a six-game homestand. It’s a $2 Tuesday, the last of the league season at Vince Genna Stadium. A three-game set against the Wenatchee AppleSox starts Friday.
Wednesday
College football, Pac-12 Media Day in Los Angeles: The hype for the 2018 Pac-12 season kicks off in Hollywood, where among the subjects in the spotlight will be the new head coaches of the Oregon Ducks, Mario Cristobal, and Oregon State Beavers, Jonathan Smith. Another of the conference’s coaches sure to gather a crowd is the new man at UCLA — former Oregon coach Chip Kelly.
