December 7, 1921 – June 19, 2018
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Marjorie Glover, 96, on June 19, 2018. She suffered with dementia the last few years of her life and was cared for by her son, Michael and then Mt. Bachelor Memory Care in Bend.
Marjorie, born December 7, 1921 in Tigard, Oregon, was the middle daughter of three born to Chester and Lena Peck. Mom grew up in California and graduated from Wasco High. Mom met a handsome sailor, John Kenneth Glover, at a USO dance and they married five months later. They were together nearly 60 years before Dad passed away January 2, 2006. They had four children, Michael Glover (Dufur); Rebecca Woodbridge (and husband Jim, Bend); Kenneth Glover (Portland); and Janet Glover (Chiapas, Mexico).
Mom was a strong Navy wife. She and Dad provided a stable and secure home as we moved from coast to coast. Upon retirement, they moved to Salem, then Ontario and finally Bend, where they lived for 30 years. In 2005 they moved to The Dalles.
Mom loved writing and receiving letters, quilting, square dancing, fishing, volunteering and traveling. We deeply miss our mom, yet we are relieved that she has been released from the burden of her illness and is reunited with Dad. Mom passed away at Hospice House in Bend surrounded by us.
Mom will be celebrated at the United Methodist Church in The Dalles, July 20 at 10:30 a.m.
