SALEM — A Murrayhill home run in the bottom of the sixth inning turned a one-run Redmond lead into a 3-2 loss Tuesday at the Oregon Little League State Major (age 12 and under) baseball tournament.

The setback was the first of the tournament for Redmond, which will play Del Norte of Crescent City, California, in an elimination game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Holland Youth Park. Del Norte advanced Tuesday with a 9-8 win over Baker City in a loser-out game.

The Redmond-Del Norte winner advances to play unbeaten Murrayhill of Beaverton at 6 p.m. Thursday. If Murrayhill wins that game, it will represent Oregon in the Northwest Regional tournament Aug. 5-11 in San Bernardino, California. If Murrayhill loses on Thursday, it will play the Redmond-Del Norte winner again at 6 p.m. Friday, and the winner of that game will advance to regionals.
