Ruby June Pyle Shelton, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and gracious friend, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away on July 14, 2018.

Ruby was born in La Grande, Oregon, on July 1, 1926, to Albert J. and Charlotte L. Jobes Pyle. Ruby was the 8th child of 14 born to Albert and Charlotte. She grew up in La Grande and graduated from La Grande High School, continuing on to receive a Bachelors in Religious Education from Northwest Christian College where she met the love of her life, Tom.

Ruby was married to Thomas H. Shelton on August 31, 1947, in La Grande. They had an amazing 68-year marriage centered around their love of the Lord. Ruby delighted in being a pastor’s wife and serving alongside her husband, directing the choir and working in women’s ministry. Tom and Ruby were in Christian ministry for over 50 years, most of that time spent in Central Oregon. She treasured time spent with her family and loved to make people laugh and sing.

Ruby is survived by son, Randall P. (Tina) of Rockledge, Florida; daughter, Joy Thompson (Vern) of Troutdale, Oregon; sisters, Francis Younger of Albany, Oregon, and Grace Hoops of Ogden, Utah; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband; sons, Timothy and Paul; daughter, Christy; eight brothers; and three sisters.
