Little Havana — Bend’s first Caribbean restaurant, the Cuban Kitchen, opened on Bend’s west side on July 3. Cristina and Chris Rojas, who moved to Bend from Miami, Florida, serve such dishes as chicken fricassee, ropa vieja (with flank steak) and a Cuban press, their version of a Cuban sandwich. Nothing is priced over $13. Plant-based diets — The new Plantd Café & Marketplace offers a morning and midday menu to appeal to vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets.
