A barn on Old Bend Redmond Highway near Jonathan Court north of Bend was destroyed by a fire Thursday afternoon, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire and law enforcement crews responded just after 4 p.m. to the fire, which engulfed the barn and caused a plume of black smoke in the area.

Old Bend Redmond Highway is closed at U.S. Highway 20, while crews continue to work on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
