The Bend Elks extended their losing streak to 12 games Thursday night as they were shut out by the Portland Pickles 3-0 at Vince Genna Stadium.

Five Elks pitchers combined for seven strikeouts, five walks and allowed just one earned run. Grant Crosby carried a bulk of the workload, as he pitched four shutout innings and fanned five. Starting pitcher Drew Zmuda took the loss for Bend. He allowed just one unearned run over two innings.

Three Pickles pitchers contributed to the six-hit shutout of the Elks. They struck out six and walked one. Colin Suter picked up the victory.

There was not much to write home about offensively. Carson Breshears had the game’s lone RBI on a two-out single in the top of the second to score Brody Barnum, who had reached on a fielder’s choice and advanced to second base on an error by Bend third baseman Tucker Rohde.

Rohde had the Elks’ only extra-base hit, a one-out double in the eighth. Bend lead-off man Jerred Seamons was 2-for-3 with a walk, but was caught stealing.

Former Ridgeview star Collin Runge threw out two Portland runners attempting to steal.
