Details: Century Center owner David Hill is remodeling the last of five buildings in the complex that hosts a variety of businesses, including GoodLife Brewing Co. and Backporch Coffee.

The 8,200-square-foot building at 40 SW Century Drive will be converted to five retail spaces, Hill said this week while working on the property. Hill’s company, Century Center Property, obtained a building permit to remove and reconstruct the entire north wall of the building and add doors, windows and awnings, according to the city of Bend. The construction value of the permit is $125,000.

Hill said he started work on the exterior shell of the building in June. The finished spaces probably won’t be available for lease until summer 2019, he said.

The Century Center complex was originally used by a toymaker, North Pacific Products. The company churned out balsa wood airplanes and gliders into the 1970s and had other products called Whiz Ring and Oss-i-lation, according to historical newspapers.
