Maryon Allen, 92: A five-month U.S. senator for Alabama (after her husband died in office) with the worst absentee record in Senate history. Died Monday in Birmingham, Alabama.

Bill Loud, 97: A graduate of the University of Oregon and pioneer of reality television with the PBS broadcast called “An American Family,” which documented the domestic drama of his affluent household. Died Thursday.

Alan Rabson, 92: A National Institutes of Health cancer researcher whose laboratory work with tumors in mice and rats helped advance the scientific understanding of several human diseases. Did July 4 of complications from cerebrovascular disease in New Jersey.
