Moore leads Team Parker in WNBA All-Star game win — Lynx star Maya Moore won her third straight All-Star MVP award to lead Team Parker past Team Delle Donne 119-112 in the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday. Moore scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out six assists to win the MVP award on her home court. She joined Lisa Leslie as the only three-time MVP of the game and became the all-time scoring leader in All-Star history, passing Tamika Catchings’ mark of 108 points. Allie Quigley of the Chicago Sky also scored 18 points and Skylar Diggins-Smith added 17 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists for Team Parker. Team Delle Donne’s Kristi Toliver of the Washington Mystics led all scorers with 23 points, including 7-for-11 shooting on 3-pointers. Rookie A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces added 18 points. Liz Cambage capped off the game with a dunk, becoming the sixth different player to do it in the game.

Garcia unifies lightweight title — Mikey Garcia’s homecoming developed into a thunderous success, both in the ovation he drew and the punches he was throwing. Dominating his lightweight-title unification with Robert Easter Jr. on Saturday before 12,560 at Staples Center, Garcia stripped Easter of his height and reach advantages and claimed a unanimous-decision victory. Judges scored the bout 116-111, 117-110 and 118-109. “I was the better fighter,” Garcia said. “I figured out my opponent. It was a matter of figuring out timing and range.” Garcia (39-0) added Easter’s International Boxing Federation belt to his own World Boxing Council 135-pound belt, and the 30-year-old fighter from Oxnard is expected to press for a shot at unbeaten welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. later this year. Easter (21-1) started the fight smartly relying on his speed and eight-inch reach advantage by jabbing and finding early openings. But the four-division champion Garcia calmed Easter’s effectiveness with head movement and powerful blows. That adjustment set up Garcia’s third-round knockdown of Easter.

Harvick, Busch flunk Pocono Raceway inspection — Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch shared laughs side-by-side on a podium only days after they tangled on a bump-and-run on the track. The front row starters were connected again when their cars failed post-qualifying inspection and the times were disallowed. Harvick had turned a lap of 177.750 mph on Saturday to briefly win the pole and Busch was a few ticks behind him at Pocono but they will start at the rear of the field. Joe Gibbs Racing driver Daniel Suarez is the pole winner at Pocono. He is the first Mexican to win a pole in the Cup series. But over 400 miles on a 2 1/2-mile triangle track, there’s ample time for Harvick and Busch to race their way to the front.
Christopher Bell races to 3rd straight Xfinity victory — Christopher Bell moved back out front in overtime to win the NASCAR Xfinity series race Saturday at Iowa Speedway, becoming the first series regular with three straight victories since Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 1999. Coming off victories in Kentucky and New Hampshire, Bell led 94 of 257 laps. He broke a tie with Cup driver Kyle Larson for the series season victory lead with four. Bell fell back to fourth in the first attempt at overtime before a red flag halted the race. He retook control in Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 car, going low to beat Justin Allgaier —the winner of the June race at Iowa. Allgaier finished second, followed by Kyle Benjamin and Ross Chastain.

Tour winner Lietzke dies at 67 — Bruce Lietzke, the fun-loving, fade-hitting PGA Tour winner whose practice regime — or lack of one — spawned an often-told spoiled banana story, died Saturday of brain cancer. He was 67. Lietzke’s family said he died at his Athens, Texas ranch. “Our PGA Tour family lost a treasured member with the death of Bruce Lietzke,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement. “He touched on parts of five decades as a player, competed in 700 tournaments as a member of the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions, and recorded a total of 20 victories.”
