BASKETBALL
Redmond 3-on-3 tourney called off for 2018 — The Hub City Hoop Jam, an outdoor 3-on-3 basketball tournament scheduled for Aug. 11-12 on parking-lot courts at Redmond High School, has been postponed until 2019, according to a release last week by the Redmond School District. The school district also said that all teams that have already registered for the 2018 event will receive full refunds. For more information, call 541-316-2864 or visit www.hubcityhoopjam.com.
HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS
Redmond High School hosts sports physical night — Incoming high school freshmen and sophomores who participate in sports, and all middle school athletes, can complete a sports physical from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Redmond High School. Physicals are required to participate in sports at Redmond, Ridgeview, Redmond middle schools and RPA athletes. A $20 “pay-to-play” fee is required. Show up at the following times: last name A-G, 5-6 p.m., last name H-P, 6-7 p.m., last name Q-Z, 7-7:30 p.m.
INLINE HOCKEY
Bend woman part of inline hockey championship — Bend’s Jetta Rackleff was part of the USA senior women’s hockey team that won the 2018 World Inline Hockey Championship in Asiago, Italy, earlier this month. Rackleff, a graduate of Summit High School, won a goalie shootout in the semifinal game against New Zealand and played in all games except one. Rackleff plays pro ice hockey in Boston and Canada with the Boston Blades.

Strang, King take over Bend Marathon — Longtime Bend runners Kari Strang and Max King are the new race directors for the Bend Marathon and Half-Marathon event. The 2019 event is scheduled for April 20. Registration will open soon. Started in 2015, the event now includes a 10K and family 5K. Strang and King have been fixtures of the Bend running scene, coaching youth and adult running programs as well as directing other prominent Bend running events. Registration deadlines approaching — Youth flag football, kindergarten soccer and sixth-grade volleyball at Bend Park & Recreation are starting soon. The flag football registration deadline is Monday, kindergarten soccer is Aug. 5, and sixth-grade volleyball is Aug. 12. Email bendparksandrec.org for more information.
