A panel discussion on Oct. 27 will go over guidelines laid out in a new OSU-Cascades partnership agreement that aims to support the university’s relationship with the surrounding community.

The discussion will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Tykeson Hall, Rm. 204 on the OSU-Cascades campus. It will address the University-Community Partnership Agreement, according to an OSU-Cascades news release, which focuses on the intersection of the university and the community, including the university’s role with the city, how students can be good citizens, and consequences of negative student behavior. Public safety, special event protocol and housing and landlord problems are also addressed.

The agreement, which the news release describes as a working tool for the university and community, will be regularly updated to reflect the changing nature of the university-town relationship. It incorporates recommendations developed by the university and other advisory groups from a three-year public planning process, the release states. It also includes practices from other university-town partnerships, such as the University of California in Merced, California, Colorado State University, and Northern Arizona University.

Discussion panelists will include OSU-Cascades staff members and community members who have contributed to the campus planning efforts. A question-and-answer session will be included, as well as a public feedback opportunity.

Panel participants include: Kelly Sparks, OSU-Cascades associate vice president for finance and strategic planning; Jane Reynolds, OSU-Cascades director of enrollment and student success; Casey Bergh, OSU-Cascades transportation manager; Joe Richie, a member of the OSU-Cascades neighborhood livability task force and community integration advisory board; Sid Snyder, a member of the neighborhood livability, housing, and sustainability task forces; and Michael Carr, a member of the housing task force.
