CORVALLIS — After falling behind 6-0 early to the Corvallis Knights, the Bend Elks rallied fiercely, but fell short, ultimately losing 8-5 on the road.

Starting pitcher Grant Crosby surrendered those first six runs on five hits and three walks through two innings of work. He also fanned two batters. Relievers Ryan Mets, Brennan Patterson and Ian Nowak — typically a position player — yielded just two more unearned runs on one hit and one walk, with six strikeouts, through the remainder of the game to keep the Elks in contention.

Bend got extra-base hits from former Ridgeview High standout Collin Runge, Ty Holmstrom and Nowak, as well as a solo home run from Tristen Alvarez.

But it was not enough to overcome four errors and a solid hitting performance by the Knights.
