A Bend man died early Monday morning after his motorcycle crashed into a tree on Deschutes Market Road near Pioneer Loop.

Robert B. Kragness, 55, was found unresponsive when Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene at about 6:10 a.m. Deputies attempted life-saving efforts until Bend Fire Department personnel arrived, but Kragness was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Kragness’s 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was northbound on Deschutes Market Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck the tree on the shoulder of the road. A skullcap style helmet was found nearby.
