People hoping to rent one of the 29 affordable apartments at Ochoco School Crossing in Prineville may submit their applications Aug. 13, developer Housing Works announced Tuesday. The apartments are expected to be available for residents in October or November.
Housing Works’ property manager, EPIC Property Management, will choose tenants through a lottery from applications submitted Aug. 13 through Aug. 16. Applications must be hand-delivered between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to the office of Prairie House, 115 NW Deer St. in Prineville.
All applications submitted during the four-day open period will be treated equally in the lottery process.
Ochoco School Crossing, 440 NW Madras Highway, is the former Ochoco Elementary. It’s being transformed into an affordable community with a community recreation center and a Head Start preschool program. The apartments are a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom units. Monthly rents range from $415 for a studio to $893 for the most expensive three-bedroom.
Pets will be allowed with a $300 pet deposit.
The apartments are restricted to households earning less than 50 percent of the area median income. The limit ranges from $19,150 per year for one person to $36,150 for a household of eight people.
