A new food truck lot behind Deschutes Brewery’s production facility is set to host its grand opening on Saturday.
The Marina, located at 419 Shevlin Hixon Drive on the corner of SW Columbia St., will include several vendors. Saturday’s grand opening will host carts from Parrilla Grill, Alley Dawgs, Skimpy’s Shaved Ice, Ben & Jerry’s, Humm Kombucha and Deschutes Brewery. The event runs from noon to 9 p.m.
“The Marina was created and built by Deschutes Brewery employees as a community gathering spot,” said Valerie Cunningham, communications manager at Deschutes Brewery, in an email. She said the goal is to cater to patrons before, during and after floating the river or enjoying Bend’s other outdoor activities.
With a nautical theme, The Marina has old boats set up for open, accessible seating, surrounded by colorful pop-ups from the vendors. Cunningham said that while the installation will only remain open through September, Deschutes Brewery does expect it “might change creatively over time.”
Live music from local artists, including Eric Leadbetter and steel drum player Dave Holmes, will play at The Marina’s grand opening event.
Carts to remain at the lot through its September closing include those from Parrilla Grill and Skimpy’s Shaved Ice.
Deschutes Brewery leases the space to vendors, and hopes to eventually host a total of five carts.
The Marina will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, noon to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and later on nights when there are concerts at the Les Schwab Amphitheater.
The Marina’s grand opening has no entry fee, and is both a “family- and dog-friendly event,” Cunningham said.
