Metolius Pond open for children, disabled
Metolius Pond, a new fishing pond for kids and disabled anglers at the old Metolius Hatchery, is now open.
The pond will be stocked regularly with trout from Wizard Falls Hatchery, providing an easier fishing opportunity in an area with no other stocked ponds, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Children 17 and younger and anglers with a disabilities license will be able to fish at the pond. Fishing is free for children 11 and younger, while older children need the Youth License, which is $10 for both residents and non-residents.
The bag limit at Metolius Pond is two fish per day, and the pond is open from sunrise to sunset.
The Metolius Pond grounds include a parking area, an Americans with Disabilities Act pathway and vault toilet.
In addition, a gravel pathway around the pond will provide easy access for anglers.
