McCoy being sued by ex-girlfriend — LeSean McCoy’s ex-girlfriend is suing the Buffalo Bills running back for failing to protect her after she was bloodied, beaten and had $133,000 worth of jewelry stolen during a home invasion last month. Delicia Cordon also alleges in a lawsuit filed in Fulton County, Georgia, on Friday that McCoy would “often brutally beat his dog,” and would also “aggressively, physically discipline and beat his young son.” Without blaming McCoy for playing a role in the home invasion, Cordon accuses him of breaching his duty to protect her because he owned the home. She also says McCoy “permitted a hazardous condition to exist” by installing a new security system and cameras and denying her access to arm the system. Details of the lawsuit were first reported by WKBW-TV in Buffalo. Cordon’s face was bloodied during a home invasion in the early hours of July 10. Police in Milton, Georgia, are still investigating and have not identified a suspect.

Stadium for Seahawks-Raiders game in England not ready — The new stadium being built for English Premier League club Tottenham is not ready to host the NFL this year. The first NFL game at Tottenham was due to feature the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders on Oct. 14. That will now be played across north London at Wembley Stadium on the same day. English soccer’s national stadium will also stage the Oct. 21 game between the Tennessee Titans and the Los Angeles Chargers, and the meeting between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars a week later. Tottenham’s 62,000-capacity venue is being built on the site of the now-demolished White Hart Lane stadium.

WNBA star Whalen to retire at end of season — When Lindsay Whalen retires from the WNBA at the end of this season, the gritty Minnesota Lynx point guard will not have trouble figuring out what to do next. She has already started the next stage, after all, as the head coach at her alma mater. Even before she was hired in the spring to take over the program she initially elevated at Minnesota, Whalen was already considering ending her playing career following a fourth championship with the Lynx. She agreed to return for one more year with her friends on the league’s longest-lasting dynasty, one more summer of inspiring all those basketball-loving girls around the state and beyond. “There were different times this offseason when I kind of felt like, ‘What can I give? How much more can I give?’” Whalen said, adding: “Coach reminded me of all the amazing times you have with your teammates.”

WWE star Neidhart dies of head injury at 63 — Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, who joined with Bret Hart to form one of the top tag teams in the 1980s with the WWE, has died. He was 63. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said Neidhart fell at home, hit his head and “succumbed to his injury” on Monday in Wesley Chapel, Florida. No foul play was suspected. Neidhart, “Hitman” Bret Hart and manager Jimmy Hart made up the Hart Foundation stable in the 1980s and the tag team won multiple championships. Hart wrote on social media, “I just don’t have the words right now.” Neidhart wrestled mostly for WWE from 1985 to 1997 and was known for his pink and black gear, maniacal laugh and goatee.
