Raiders activate tackle Donald Penn off injured list — The Oakland Raiders have activated tackle Donald Penn off the physically unable to perform list. Penn took part in practice Tuesday, his first since injuring his right foot in Week 15 last season. Penn had played in 174 consecutive regular-season games before the injury, including 170 straight starts for what was the longest active streak for any offensive lineman at the time. The 35-year-old Penn has been voted to the Pro Bowl the past two seasons at left tackle. He worked at right tackle at practice instead of his usual spot, which was occupied by first-round pick Kolton Miller.

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant set to visit Browns camp — Free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant is set to visit the Browns. The three-time Pro Bowler was released by Dallas in April. The Browns say he will be at their training camp Thursday. Bryant has shown interest in signing with Cleveland, and receiver Jarvis Landry said Monday the team would welcome him with “open arms.” Cleveland needs receiving help, with Josh Gordon absent from camp to focus on his health. The Browns don’t know when he’ll return. Gordon has played in just 10 games since 2013 because of drug violations. The 29-year-old Bryant said on Twitter last week he intended to meet with the Browns.

Dodgers closer to have offseason heart surgery — Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen expects to have a second heart surgery in the offseason but is confident he will be able to come off the disabled list within the next few weeks. The All-Star reliever, out since last Thursday with an irregular heartbeat, rejoined the Dodgers when they returned home Monday and threw a light bullpen. He plans to throw bullpens again on Wednesday and Friday. The 30-year-old Jansen is scheduled to be re-examined by his physicians next Monday. He says it is likely he will need another ablation procedure on his heart after the season — the right-hander had a similar operation in 2012. When he was placed on the disabled list last week, it was projected Jansen would miss four to six weeks. But he and the Dodgers both say he should be back sooner than initially anticipated.

Tiger Woods juices ratings for PGA championship — There is nothing like a late charge from Tiger Woods to juice the ratings of a major golf tournament. The Nielsen company said that CBS reached 8.5 million viewers Sunday for final-round competition at the PGA Championship from St. Louis. That’s a whopping 73 percent increase from the 4.9 million people who watched the same tournament’s conclusion in 2017. Old hero Woods was the difference. He played his best golf in years, leading to a second-place finish against champion Brooks Koepka. Nielsen said that viewership peaked at 12.3 million people during the last half hour of the competition.
