Eugene (Gene) Milton Holliday

November 22, 1932 – July 16, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Eugene (Gene) Holliday announce his passing on July 16, 2018. Born in Bend, Oregon, to Bud and Lois Holliday, Gene and his parents were longtime residents. Gene attended Bend public schools, graduating from Bend High School in 1950. He also attended Willamette University for one year. He then enlisted in the US Navy serving 4 years during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he returned to Bend and continued his college education at COCC and graduated from Oregon State University. He returned to Bend where he accepted a position with Pacific Power and Light where he continued his employment until his retirement.

Gene will be lovingly remembered by his family, his two sons, Russell and David, their mother Gwen Russell Holliday, two daughters-in-law Tracy and Kelly, his four grandchildren, Kendall , Bryan, Ellary and Wyce, by his cousins, Darlyne and Bob Haynes and Connie and Paul Beaulieu.

Gene’s parents and an older sister, Norma Jean (who died in infancy), and his devoted companion, Patricia Abbott, pre-deceased him.

Gene loved the home he built on a small acreage in northeast Bend after his retirement. He especially loved the peace and solitude it gave him. His family and friends remember the many barbecues he hosted and loved.

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, August 25, at the family home, 63693 Cricketwood Road, Bend, Oregon.
