- Bend High School on NE Sixth Street would get a major upgrade if voters approve a bond measure on the Nov. 8 ballot.
The Bend-La Pine Schools has invited author and public speaker Chad Hymas to Bend for a free event at 7 p.m. Aug. 28. Hymas, who is a wheelchair athlete as well as the president of his own professional speaking company, according to a district press release, will talk to attendees about “Safe and Sound Schools: Parent Engagement for Safer School Climates.”
Hymas frequently gives inspirational speeches to companies and groups around the country and once wheeled his chair 513 miles from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas in 2003, according to his website.
