The unemployment rate in Deschutes County was 3.8 percent in July, basically unchanged since June and from the same time a year ago, the Oregon Employment Department reported Tuesday.

Unemployment rates were also stable in Crook County, 5.4 percent, and Jefferson County, 4.8 percent.

Employers added new jobs at a faster-than-usual pace in Deschutes County, the employment department said. New jobs were added in construction, retail, manufacturing, professional and business services for a total of 190.

Typically there are no net gains in employment in July, Central Oregon Regional Economist Damon Runberg said.
