The Deschutes Public Library Foundation has announced the lineup of its 2018-19 Author! Author! series in Bend. The seventh season of this popular speaking series will feature bestselling authors Maria Semple, Sarah Vowell, Colum McCann and Richard Russo.
Semple, best known for her novel “Where’d You Go, Bernadette,” kicks off the season on Oct. 5. She will be followed by nonfiction author Vowell on Nov. 15. Vowell’s books on American history and culture include “Unfamiliar Fishes,” “The Wordy Shipmates” and “Lafayette in the Somewhat United States.” Both events will be held at the Bend High School auditorium (230 NE Sixth St.).
McCann, who won the National Book Award in 2009 for his novel “Let the Great World Spin,” will speak Feb. 21. Finally Russo, who won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for “Empire Falls,” will close out the season on March 14. In a venue change for the Author! Author! series, these two events will be held at The Riverhouse Convention Center (2850 NW Rippling River Court, Bend).
All events start at 7 p.m. Season tickets for the series will be available starting Friday and cost $100 for general admission or $180 for preferred seating, which includes a private reception with each author. Individual general admission tickets will go on sale Sept. 21 for $30 each.
