Support Knute Buehler

What Oregon needs is thoughtful, caring and independent leadership: that’s why I support Knute Buehler. As a registered independent, my views don’t always fit cohesively with either of the major parties, but I know Knute will make a great leader for Oregon.

Knute embodies the pride that comes with being an Oregonian. He was born and raised here, went to college here, built a business here and raised his family here. No one knows this state like he does, and no one is better fit to lead. Knute understands what needs to be done and is bringing innovative ideas to the table to help solve some of the issues that Oregon is facing.

I admire Knute’s dedication to the improvement of our healthcare system and his focus on fixing our broken foster care system. As a doctor, he sees firsthand each and every day the challenges our current system presents to its residents. His vision addresses these issues, and will help make sure that all of Oregon can be thriving and healthy.

Knute will be a leader for all of Oregon, and that’s why I’m supporting him for governor.

Vote Kate Brown

Knute Buehler is pumping out ads on television. The latest is an effort to claim that he’s a champion for the environment. His record says otherwise. Buehler fails to mention that he voted against the Oregon Clean Fuels Program, which has already cut a million tons of greenhouse gases. He voted in support of fracking and selling the Elliott State Forest.

As an environmentalist, I do not trust Knute Buehler to work with our state to fight the forces of climate change. The only thing his voting record shows is that he would readily sell our public lands and vote with big polluters. I’m grateful we have a real champion for the environment on the ballot, Governor Kate Brown.

Russell for Bend mayor

I first met Sally Russell last year, when I was running for Congress. I was meeting with leaders throughout Central Oregon to understand how to deal with the many challenges standing in the way of creating healthy communities — affordable housing, education, transportation, clean air and water among others.

It quickly became clear to me that Sally understands the importance of planning for the rapid growth of Bend while addressing these concerns. Her experience on City Council for the last six years as a councilor and mayor pro tem, along with her service as chair of Bend’s planning commission, has given her the needed perspective to face the challenges of Bend’s future. Her ability to listen, quickly process information and formulate solutions reveals her strong leadership skills.

Sally’s commitment to hearing all perspectives before making decisions and her dedication to what is best for Bend make her the mayor we need to face the next decade. Healthy communities require a government where people work together, support each other and commit to efficient transportation that works whether you are 8 or 80. For Bend to continue to be the place we all live here for, we need women like Sally to help lead the way — uniting Bendites to protect what we love as we face the challenges of inevitable growth.

McLeod-Skinner for Congress

This is a response to those who argue that Greg Walden’s seniority means we should vote for him. If Greg Walden were actually representing Congressional District 2 Oregonians, this argument would make sense.

The reality is, however, that Greg Walden represents only the corporations that fund his campaigns, the richest 1 percent. If he cared for his constituents he wouldn’t have tried to pull health insurance from thousands of us. If he cared for his constituents, he would not support the racism, sexism, bigotry, anti-science ignorance, incompetence, treason, racial profiling and simple inhumanity that is represented by the Trump administration. This is not what Oregon stands for; this is not what Oregonians want. Walden is a Trump enabler. Voting for Walden means voting against our best interests.

Alternatively, we could vote for sanity and humanity and support Jamie McLeod-Skinner for Congress. Jamie would represent us in Congress; Walden does not!
