Riverbend Brewing Sports Pub: 76 — Open bucket of chicken tenders (per operators comments, chicken is raw breaded) were stored above open package of saran wrapped raw beef burgers, which was stored above open box of cheese curds in reach-in refrigerator. Two buckets of blanched french fries at 71 degrees on countertop (not on ice); per operator’s comments, blanched fries are removed from walk-in refrigerator and held on counter until used, with no specific discard time; no discard time was marked on containers. No test strips available in establishment. Hand-washing sink behind bar contained ice, straws and lemons.

Kayo’s Dinner House: 78 — Spray nozzle by pre-cleaning sink at dishmachine was hanging below flood rim. Multiple shellstock tags dating from the last 90 days did not have last date of sale or service marked on tags. Several prepared foods in prep coolers and reach-in coolers did not have date marking. Main hand-washing sink in kitchen did not have paper towels. Observed sinks throughout establishment are directly connected to sewer. At time of inspection, sinks were not used for food preparation or food thawing, all culinary sinks used for food preparation or handling shall be indirectly connected.

Bangers & Brews: 87 — Mashed potatoes made night before are stored in walk-in recorded at 49 degrees in center. Dessert cooler holding at 50 degrees. Back hand sink near dish pit did not have soap.

Elk Lake Resort Restaurant: 87 — Pastrami and cheese in south line reach-in cooler are 56 degrees, cooler is 52 degrees. Many bat droppings in back storage area on unused ice cream freezers, several flies present. Service station ice scoop stored next to hand-wash sink. Lights in ceiling fan in storage area not shielded.

Laughing Planet Cafe: 87 — Multi-use agatized wood bowls used for steaming vegetables had deep cracks that were not easily cleanable. Open container of vegan sour cream (according to ingredients, not a cultured product) without date-marking. Multiple food containers stored as clean still had date marking labels.

Health inspections were conducted by the Deschutes County Public Health Department and reflect violations observed at the time of inspection. The violations can range from general sanitation and maintenance to violations that have a direct connection to preventing foodborne illness to violations in procedures by maintenance that control the risk of foodborne illness, such as documentation, labeling, personnel training and equipment.
