David Kendrick Scott, 75, of Madras, passed away on July 4, 2018, after a prolonged illness at a Senior Care Facility in Madras.
A graveside service will be held on September 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Powell Butte, OR. Casual attire welcomed.
He was born on January 9, 1943, to Billy David Scott and Ethel Harriett Scott in Portland, OR. He resided in Madras, Bend, Union, La Grande and Salem. David married Mary Lou Coburn on November 3, 1961, in Bend and later divorced. They had four children. He married his second wife, Deborah Leigh Stratton, on July 27, 1988, in Aumsville.
He worked various jobs: Brooks-Scanlon lumber mill, Terry Trailers, and carpentry. At one time, he owned two gas stations, in Bend and Redmond. Later on, he became an independent general contractor working alongside his son, Don. He built over 500 homes in Bend, Madras, Sunriver and the surrounding areas.
David enjoyed working on and racing his vehicles, watching the Drag Strip and the Madras Speedway Races, deer and elk hunting, target practicing, riding motorcycles and working on his genealogy.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; children and their spouses, Mary Jane and Don of La Grande; Don Scott of Madras, Barbara and Jim Blevins of Richland, Washington, Nicki and Shawn Marcoulier of Bend; brothers and their spouses, George and Gail Scott of Monmouth, and Dwight and Jamie Scott of Junction City; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His parents, his sisters and their spouses, Janet and Jim Dunn and Linda and Bill Salt, preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to a Parkinson’s Foundation or a Diabetes Foundation.
