Bring your cowboy boots, hats and appetites to the first Cowboy Chili Cook-off and Western Hootenanny, which takes place at the Crooked River Ranch Heritage House on Sunday. The event, hosted by the Crooked River Ranch Lions Club — a chapter of Lions Club International — will feature music from the ranch’s own country/bluegrass band The Opal Spring Boys and Texas country-rockers Jay Statham & The Tokie Show. Country singer-songwriter, performer and horse trainer Juni Fisher, winner of the Western Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award in 2011, will headline the event. The chili cook-off starts at 4 p.m., with hot dogs, sodas, root beer floats and a beer garden also available. All proceeds go the Crooked River Ranch Lions Club, which offers humanitarian programs such as mobile health screenings, vision screenings at Central Oregon schools, support for senior citizens and more (visit e-clubhouse.org/sites/crookedriverranchor or lionsclubs.org).
