Sunriver Half Marathon a race for a cause

SUNRIVER —
A glorious Central Oregon weekend greeted participants in the eighth annual Sunriver Half Marathon for a Cause races, staged over two days on routes around Sunriver Resort.
More than 600 runners and walkers took part in the event’s three races, which benefit St. Charles Cancer Services. Ten-kilometer and 5K races took place Saturday, and more than 200 entries finished the featured half marathon on Sunday.
The overall winner of the half marathon was 23-year-old Trevor Capra, of Lakeville, Minnesota, who covered the course in 1 hour, 11 minutes and 29 seconds to beat runner-up Justin Banks, of Eugene, by just six seconds.
The overall women’s winner was a Bend runner, 23-year-old Alexandra Sciocchetti, in 1:20:01.
Masters winners were Bend’s Peter Curran in the men’s division (1:21:16) and Suzanne Ray, of Jacksonville, in the women’s division (1:42:13).
