Country music is full of stories about survivors, and Clay Walker is no exception. In 1996, as his career was peaking, the Texas singer-songwriter was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and told he didn’t have much longer to live. “If you’d asked me when I was diagnosed that first day if I would still be alive, I would have said ‘No’ because that’s what the doctors said,” he said in his website’s biography. More than 20 years and a few lifestyle changes later, Walker is still touring regularly and releasing new music, as well as giving back through his organizations Band Against MS and Military Warriors Support Foundation. The “What’s It to You” and “This Woman and This Man” singer has trickled out a few singles since his last studio album way back in 2010, “She Won’t Be Lonely Long,” including this year’s mid-tempo country throwback “Working on Me.” Walker closes out Bend Radio Group’s country concert series at Oregon Spirit Distillers on Tuesday.
