Deaths of note from around the world:

Sheldon Cohen, 91: Tax lawyer and certified public accountant who helped set up the first presidential blind trust, for Lyndon B. Johnson, and then helped computerize the IRS as Johnson’s commissioner of internal revenue, died Tuesday at a nursing home in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Jan Ellen Lewis, 69: Thomas Jefferson historian who organized a conference to reassess his legacy after DNA testing showed he fathered children with Sally Hemings, one of his slaves. Died Aug. 28 in Manhattan of bone-marrow transplant complications.
