Portland duo Strange Hotels will make its Bend debut at McMenamins Old St. Francis School on Thursday. While the group is a new entity, its members are familiar faces on the Northwest music scene: Multi-instrumentalists Ben Braden and Nick Sadler make up two-thirds of ’60s throwback rockers The Lower 48. Strange Hotels is a much different beast, though, as evidenced on the duo’s highly danceable debut EP, “Mixtape,” which takes its cues from modern R&B, Shins-esque indie rock and soul-inflected pop. The duo has toured the West Coast this year, and will trek out to Minneapolis the weekend after playing Bend, according to its Facebook page. Catch these guys here while you can.
Strange Hotels: 7 p.m. Thursday; free; McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St., Bend; mcmenamins.com or 541-382-5174.
