Gloria Jean, 92: The child singing sensation is remembered for her popular 1940s films with Universal Studios and her leading part in W.C. Fields’ antic comedy “Never Give a Sucker an Even Break.” Died Friday at a care facility near her home in Mountain View, Hawaii, of heart failure and pneumonia, said Scott and Jan MacGillivray, Jean’s biographers.

Kenny Shopsin, 76: The colorful proprietor of a fabled Manhattan restaurant where the menu is vast and the customer has never been king. Died Sunday at his home in the West Village; his son-in-law Andrew Lampert said he had fallen last year and had had a series of health problems since.
