Amy Tykeson, the former president and CEO of BendBroadband, was selected Citizen of the Year on Friday during the Bend Chamber of Commerce 2018 SAGE Business Awards at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes. Along with her family, Tykeson has been an active supporter of Oregon State University-Cascades. She is managing trustee of the Tykeson Family Foundation, which has provided financial support for Tykeson Hall, the first academic building at OSU Cascades; the Energy Engineering program and the second academic building, according to the Bend chamber. She also serves on the boards of Oregon Public Broadcasting, Oregon Health & Science University and Economic Development for Central Oregon.

During her years at BendBroadband, Tykeson served on the boards of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, and she was inducted into the Cable TV Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2007, according to the organization.

Other categories and winners at the SAGE Business Awards were:

• Large Business of the Year — Five Talent, a software company

• Small Business of the Year — Powers of Automation, which provides industrial control solutions to business

• Nonprofit of the Year/People’s Choice Award – Guardian Group, which works to end sex trafficking in the United States.
