Yates reclaims lead in Spanish Vuelta — Simon Yates recovered the lead of the Spanish Vuelta after pulling away from his title rivals on the final push to win the 14th stage Saturday. Miguel Angel Lopez and Alejandro Valverde crossed seconds later, followed by Thibaut Pinot and Nairo Quintana. Yates finished the 106-mile stage in nearly 4 1/2 hours. Valverde is second overall at 20 seconds behind, followed by Movistar teammate Quintana at 25 seconds back. Lopez is fourth, 47 seconds off the pace. Bend’s Ian Boswell finished the day in 147th. The three-week race stays in the Picos de Europa mountains Sunday. The 178-kilometer ride starting in Ribera de Arriba finishes atop the beyond-category Lagos de Covadonga, which is considered an iconic Vuelta summit. The Grand Tour ends in Madrid next weekend.
