NEWTON SQUARE, Pa. — Keegan Bradley tapped in for par on the first playoff hole Monday to defeat Justin Rose and win the rain-delayed BMW Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
Bradley took advantage when Rose missed a 5-foot par putt on the playoff hole, the 463-yard 18th. Both players missed the green, but Bradley’s chip got to within 18 inches of the hole, giving him an easy par.
Bradley, 32, won for the first time on the PGA Tour since the 2012 World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational. He shot a final-round 64 for a 72-hole score of 20-under 260.
Although he finished second, Rose moved up to No. 1 in the World Golf Rankings. He will go into the Tour Championship, beginning Sept. 20 at East Lake in Atlanta, in second place on the FedExCup points list.
Tiger Woods was one shot out of the lead after nine holes, but his comeback attempt was sidetracked by bogeys at the 10th and 14th holes. He finished tied for seventh place.
Rain fell off and on throughout Monday’s round, but the players still were able to finish.
