Hip-hop goes underground at Astro Lounge

A couple of Aesop Rock cohorts will headline a massive East-meets-West hip-hop bill at the Astro Lounge on Saturday. Bronx rapper Rob Sonic — known for his early work with the group Sonic Sum and his more recent collaborations with Aesop Rock under the name Hail Mary Mallon — will headline the show. As a solo artist, Sonic released the deeply personal, musically wide-ranging “Alice in Thunderdome” album in 2014, and earlier this year dropped the single “JJ SAD.” Seattle’s Onry Ozzborn, a Bend frequent flier known for his work with Rock and Atmosphere’s Slug, will also perform. Iame (aka Wool See, of Portland), Diveyede (Seattle), The Hard Chords’ Gainon and Northorn Lights (both from Bend) round out this free underground showcase.

Rob Sonic, with Onry Ozzborn, Iame, Diveyede, Gainon, Northorn Lights: 8:30 p.m. Saturday; free; Astro Lounge, 939 NW Bond St., Bend; bit.ly/bbrobsonic or 541-388-0116.
