Lois Hansen

1921-2018

Lois Hansen went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on August 30, 2018.

Lois was born at home in Bremerton, Washington to Art and Mayme Bluhm on January 19, 1921. She attended Bremerton High School, where she lettered in several sports and enjoyed drama classes. Her family moved to Huntington Park, California in the late 1930’s, after she graduated from high school. She began a life of passion for flowers and gardening when she studied floral design and worked in a flower shop for two years. She was active in the First Baptist Church. It was there she met the love of her life, Lloyd Hansen, and they were married on August 26, 1941.

When Lloyd enlisted in the Navy in 1942, Lois became an adept “Rosie the Riveter,” aiding the war effort by assisting in the building of airplanes. Following the war, they began their family of three children, and moved to the Bay Area in California. After their children were raised, the couple moved north to McCloud, California.

Lois embraced the charming town, and worked with Lloyd in the hardware store they bought in 1979. She was active in the Presbyterian Church, Chamber of Commerce, and Garden Club of McCloud. A hallmark of Lois’ life was writing cards and letters of encouragement to everyone she knew!

Over her life, she enjoyed gardening, camping, water skiing, and cross country skiing. But her favorite hobby was her children and grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Betty, in 1983, and by her husband, Lloyd, in 2013.

She then moved to Bend, Oregon, to be near her daughter. She has resided at Fox Hollow Independent and Assisted Living for three and a half years.

Lois is survived by her sons Gary (Marleen) of Weed, CA, Daryl (Rosie) of Binghamton, NY, and daughter Carolyn (Bill) of Bend OR, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She has been interred with her late husband at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
