Marjorie Marilyn Blume, 91, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018.

She was born January 20, 1927, to Isaac C. and Marjorie H. Whiteley in Payette, ID. As a child, she spent time in Shriners Children Hospital.

Marilyn graduated from Payette High School in 1945. On March 27, 1948, she married the love of her life, Lawrence R. Blume, in Payette, ID. After several years in Payette, they decided to move to Oregon and eventually settled in Redmond in 1956, where Lawrence started his own Masonry Contracting business. Three children later, Marilyn decided to go back to work as a teachers aide in the Redmond School District. Due to health reasons, she had to leave her position there. When her health allowed her to, she started a private tutoring business in her home. It was her goal in life to be able to make a difference in the lives of children with learning disabilities.

When Marilyn was in high school, she was very active in Pep Club and also a member of the Payette Chapter of Jobs Daughters and served as Honored Queen 1944-45.

Marilyn and Lawrence were also very active in the Masonic family of organizations, starting in the late 1950s. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star Redmond Chapter# 109 and of also the Prineville Chapter # 23 of which she still held the office of Chaplain. Marilyn also was a member of Daughters of the Nile #4, Oregon Retired Educators, a 62-year member of the Redmond Christian Church and a life member of Olla Podrida.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents. Lawrence passed away in 1980.

She is survived by her three children, Lawrence (Duffy) R., Jr, (Ellen) of Anchorage, AK, Barbara Larsen (Ken) of Eugene, OR, and Daniel (Molly) of Redmond, OR; four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm Wed. Sept. 19, 2018, at Redmond Christian Church.

Contributions may be made to Shriners Children Hospital, Portland, OR, in lieu of flowers.

Redmond Memorial Chapel was honored to serve the family.
