The Bend Song Exchange’s Non-Profit Tunes events continue to evolve and expand. The monthly benefit concerts for Central Oregon nonprofit organizations moved from the now-closed Fat Tuesdays Cajun & Blues to Worthy Brewing in July, the second venue change this year. But according to organizer Thomas Hudson, Worthy’s outdoor stage allowed for significant growth, with the July event raising more than $1,000 for The Hope Foundation at BEMC, which provides financial assistance to Central Oregon pet owners. Non-Profit Tunes will return to Worthy for one final outdoor show Thursday before fall hits; the concert will feature longtime Bend musicians Doc Ryan (leader of The Wychus Creek Band); Dry Canyon Stampede’s Lilli Worona and Kurt Silva; and blues-rocker Bobby Lindstrom. All proceeds from donations and a 50/50 cash raffle will benefit United Way of Deschutes County.
Hudson said he expects to host Non-Profit Tunes at Worthy again next year, but is looking for an indoor venue for the final three shows of this year due to scheduling conflicts.
