Pacific Amateur gets underway

SUNRIVER — A pair of aces highlighted play Monday during the opening round of the 2018 Pacific Amateur Golf Classic.

The tournament, in its 22nd year, runs through Thursday on the Crosswater, Meadows and Woodlands courses at Sunriver Resort.

Kyle Walker and Clint Walker (not related) hit hole-in-ones Monday at Woodlands. Kyle Walker, who is from Sammamish, Washington, and is playing in the Open/Gross Division, needed just one shot on the 175-yard 17th hole. And Clint Walker, from Yuba City, California, and playing in the Mid-Senior Men’s Division, aced No. 7 at 140 yards.

Approximately 180 golfers are playing in the tournament, which includes five age divisions for men in addition to a women’s division.

The Pacific Amateur, presented and managed by Sunriver Resort, starts with three days of net stroke-play competition. Qualifiers advance to the championship round Thursday at Crosswater.
