Frank James Jackson

Frank James Jackson was born in Hammond Lumber Company Camp #17 in Detroit, Oregon on July 1, 1925 to parents Frank James Jackson Sr. and Lulu Dean (Watters) Jackson.

Frank Jackson joined the U.S. Navy and served from May 10, 1943 to May 22, 1946 serving in the occupation of Japan. He joined the Naval Reserve December 1, 1947. Frank earned two honorable discharges.

Frank was a member of the American Legion Post #86. He was also a life member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #1371, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Sisters Post #8138 and served as Commander from 2002 to 2007. He was also a life member of the NRA, Military Order of Cooties and life member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Frank met Helen Irene Roten while on leave from the military and they were married December 13, 1947 at Mill City, Oregon. They moved to Astoria where Frank started his long career with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co., later known as Pacific N.W. Bell Co.

While in Astoria they had two daughters, Judith Ann McKenzie, now of Alaska and Debra Jean Rich of Corvallis. The family moved to Corvallis in December 1954 and lived there for many years. Helen succumbed to cancer on October 15, 1970.

Frank married Doris Lucille Baldwin from Corvallis in 1973 and gained four stepchildren: Cary Scott Baldwin of Lebanon, Oregon, Karen Elaine Turner, who succumbed to cancer July 18, 2009, David Wayne Baldwin of Alaska and Linda Marlene Thomas of Bend.

Frank and Doris moved to Bend, where Frank retired from Pacific N.W. Bell after 36 years of service.

Frank’s hobbies included model trains, camping, fishing, hunting, stamp collecting, reading and TV. Frank is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to go to the American Cancer Society 0330 S.W. Curry Street, Portland, Oregon 97239.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. at Deschutes Memorial Chapel with a graveside service to follow.
