The Real McKenzies go Celtic at The Capitol

If you’re still upset about Flogging Molly’s canceled, sold-out show at Midtown Ballroom in March, well, get ready to get over it. Canadian Celtic rock band The Real McKenzies will return for its first Bend show in three years in support of its ninth studio album, last year’s “Two Devils Will Talk.” Since 1992, frontman Paul McKenzie and his rotating cast of musicians have combined Scottish bagpipes and traditional tunes with buzz-saw guitars and punk-rock attitude, helping launch a new genre in the process (while Flogging Molly and its East Coast counterpart Dropkick Murphys get all the name recognition, McKenzie and company were here first). Years of hard touring have done little to slow the band down: “Two Devils Will Talk” is another bracing blast of hard-partying drinking songs and two-stepping beats that rarely steps on the brakes. Local punk bands Roof Rabbits and Poolside Leper Society will round out the bill at The Capitol on Wednesday.

The Real McKenzies, with Roof Rabbits, Poolside Leper Society: 8 p.m. Wednesday; $15 plus fees in advance, $20 at the door; The Capitol, 190 NW Oregon Ave., Bend; thecapitolbend.com or 541-678-5740.
