The members of New York City Brass band Lucky Chops met as students at LaGuardia Arts High School and played their first gig together in 2006, gaining attention for their horn-filled covers of pop songs modern and classic. But the group’s big break wouldn’t come until a few years ago, when videos of its performances in New York City’s subway (as part of the Music Under New York program) went viral on YouTube. Since then, Lucky Chops toured nationally and internationally, released a full-length album in 2015 (“NYC”) and followed it up with a steady stream of singles and EPs. The band opened Gogol Bordello’s sold-out show at Midtown Ballroom in February, and will return to headline its own gig at Volcanic Theatre Pub on Thursday.
Lucky Chops, with Sol Seed: 9 p.m. Thursday; $20 plus fees in advance, $25 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatre.com or 541-323-1881.
