Deaths of note from around the world:
Teodoro Petkoff, 86: A fiercely independent Venezuelan political figure — whose trajectory from armed Marxist guerrilla to government minister to apostate under the country’s socialist president, Hugo Chavez, reflected the evolution of the Latin American left. Died Wednesday in Caracas after complications from a fall in 2012.
Cot Campbell, 91: A dapper racehorse owner and writer who brought democracy to racing by pioneering shared ownership of thoroughbreds. Died Saturday at home in South Carolina.
