Happy Girls runners tackle the trail

More than 470 runners — the vast majority of them women — took to the trails along Peterson Ridge on Saturday for the Happy Girls Run Sisters half marathon. Another 250-plus took part in the event’s 5-kilometer race, starting and finishing at FivePine Lodge in Sisters. Bend’s Meghan Reardon placed first in the 13.1-mile featured race with a time of 1 hour, 40 minutes, 7.1 seconds. Kari Huang, also of Bend, was second in 1:40:42.0, and Portland’s Alexandra Keogh was third in 1:40:51.9. Topping the 5K field were Bend’s Natalie Bak (19:21.6) and Anniston Ward (20:31.0) and Eugene’s Rachel Roberts (20:47.2). More results in Community Sports Scoreboard on Page B2.
