Area players land Mountain Valley honors — Five players from Central Oregon have been named to the all-Mountain Valley Conference first team. Bend High senior Lucas Musgrave was selected to the first-team offense as a tight end and to the first-team defense as a lineman. Other first-team choices included Bend senior punter Tysen Scott and three players from Mountain View: seniors running back Jonas Larson, senior receiver Forrest Love, and junior tackle Blake Warner. West Salem took the league’s top individual honors, senior quarterback Simon Thompson being named offensive player of the year and senior linebacker Alex Hurlburt being named defensive player of the year. McNary’s Jeff Auvinen was chosen MVC coach of the year. The complete all-MVC teams are listed in Prep Scoreboard.

Summit takes top MVC honors — Summit junior Simon Kidder has been named Mountain Valley Conference player of the year, one of four Storm players selected to the all-MVC first team. Also on the first team from Summit are senior defender Emory Steele and juniors Kamdon Simmons, a midfielder/forward, and Khael Engleman, a goalie. The Storm’s Ron Kidder was named MVC coach of the year. Bend High landed three players on the conference first team, senior midfielders Colin Brown and Tyler Ericksson and senior defender Reed Kellar. Madras trio on all-Tri-Valley 1st team — Seniors Byron Patt, Andres Acuna and Melchor Olivera represent Madras on the Tri-Valley Conference first team. Patt is a goalie, and according to longtime White Buffaloes coach Clark Jones he is the first Madras goalkeeper ever to be selected to an all-league first team. Acuna is a forward/midfielder, and Olivera plays midfield. Molalla senior Miguel Maldonado was named TVC player of the year, and Jones was named co-coach of the year along with Molalla’s Ryan Gates. GIRLS SOCCER

Storm’s Gorman is MVC player of the year — Summit’s Michaela Gorman has been voted player of the year in the Mountain Valley Conference, leading six Central Oregon players on the all-MVC first team. Gorman, a senior midfielder/defender, joins Storm teammates Shea Campbell and Caroline Schutz, both juniors on the first team. Also named to the 12-player all-conference first team were Bend’s Amelia Anderson, a senior, and Makenzie Jerome, a junior. The first-team goalie is Mountain View senior Mia Morey. Summit’s Jamie Brock was named the conference’s coach of the year. The complete all-MVC teams are listed in Prep Scoreboard.

White Buffs senior makes 1st-team TVC — Madras senior Erika Olivera has been named to the Tri-Valley Conference first team. Gladstone sophomore Brianna Lewis was selected TVC player of the year, and Molalla’s Nina Wegner was named the league’s coach of the year. The complete all-TVC teams are listed in Prep Scoreboard.

VOLLEYBALL

Central Oregon players on all-tourney teams — Four players representing Central Oregon high schools were named to all-tournament teams following the OSAA volleyball state championships held Friday and Saturday. Ridgeview junior Rylee Troutman, who led the Ravens to a runner-up finish, was a unanimous selection to the Class 5A all-tournament first team. Two Sisters players received 4A all-tourney honors — senior Kendra Sitz was named to the first team and junior Samantha Silva to the second team — after helping the Outlaws to a third-place finish. And Summit senior Jade Waskom was named to the 6A all-tournament second team after guiding the Storm to a fifth-place finish. Summit also received the 6A tournament’s sportsmanship trophy.
