BASKETBALL

Deadline near for Bend youth program — Registration deadline for Bend Park & Recreation District youth basketball is Tuesday. The program is open to boys and girls currently enrolled in grades 3-5 and runs Jan. 7 through March 9. Teams are coached by trained volunteers, and coaches are needed for the upcoming season. MARTIAL ARTS

Local students shine at Legacy Cup — Students with Bend’s High Desert Martial Arts were high placers at the 2018 Grandmaster Legacy Cup taekwondo competition, held Nov. 3 at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. High Desert green belt Zoey Graving was first in combo breaking and first in sparring. Green belt Mara Young was first in sparring, second in traditional forms and second in creative forms. Blue belt Noah Mastrullo was first in sparring, first in creative forms and second in traditional forms.
