SWIMMING

Local standout commits to Boise State — Emma Brady, a senior at Mountain View High School and standout with Bend Swim Club, has verbally committed to swim at Boise State. According to a Bend Swim Club release, Brady will sign a letter of intent Wednesday. A freestyle specialist, Brady was the Class 5A champion in the girls 200-yard freestyle as a junior at the 2018 OSAA state championships. As a sophomore, she was the 5A champ in the 100-yard butterfly. Boise State won the Mountain West Conference women’s swimming and diving championship in both 2017 and 2018.

SOCCER

Summit’s Gorman chosen for All-American game — Michaela Gorman, recently named Mountain Valley Conference girls soccer player of the year, has been selected to play in the 2018 High School All-American Game. Gorman is one of 20 players named to the West team, which will face the 20-player East squad in the sixth annual showcase game Dec. 1 in Orlando, Florida. The rosters consist of seniors from fall-playing states (fall soccer season) who have finished their high school careers. Gorman, a midfielder who also plays for FC Portland Academy, is expected to commit to play at Baylor University in Texas. She is one of two Oregon players selected for the All-American game, joining Jesuit’s Katelyn Duong.

Coleman, a senior, was named girls co-MVP along with South Eugene junior Emma Molaski. Coleman and fellow first-team selections Gillian Fritz, a senior goalie, and Anna Carillo, a junior, helped Summit to first place in the Southern Conference. The Storm advanced to the 6A state championships, where they lost 8-6 to David Douglas in a fifth-place semifinal match Friday at Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Phaedra Marks, a Bend High junior, was also named to the all-conference first team. Eckholt, a junior, was named boys MVP after helping the Storm to second place in the conference. He was the lone Central Oregon player named to the all-conference first team. The complete all-Southern Conference teams are listed in Prep Scoreboard.
