James Dean Rathbone

James Dean Rathbone, 79, passed away September 11, 2018. Jim was born in Eugene, Oregon, September 17, 1938, to Dr. Edwin Rathbone and Dr. Gladys (Simons) Rathbone.

Jim was raised on a small farm on the west side of Eugene. He graduated from Eugene High School with the class of 1957. After high school, he served on the USS Montrose Navy Battle Ship. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1965 with a degree in Geology. Jim pursued his pilot license and went on to work for Eastern Airlines for 21 years.

In his retirement he became a property developer in Bend, Oregon. He had a love of gardening and was a qualified nurseryman.

He is survived by his daughter, Tara Sahnow; son-in-law, Adam Sahnow; and soon to be grandson.
