MBSEF announces nordic events — Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation has released its schedule of cross-country ski events for the upcoming season, all open to the public and staged on trails at and near Mount Bachelor. The MBSEF Season Opener is a mass-start skate race set for Dec. 9; race distances are 2.5, 5 and 10 kilometers. The Sunnyside Challenge, scheduled for Dec. 15-16, offers 3K and 5K classic individual-start races on the first day and 3K, 5K and 10K mass-start skate races on the second day. The annual Great Nordeen, on Jan. 27, includes 30K and 18K nordic ski races and features a 15K fat bike race. A May 4 event, billed as The Last Race in America, will take place on the same course that will serve as the nordic leg of the Pole Pedal Paddle multisport stage race on May 18.
